Adam Keith Will





IN THE NAME OF THE BENEVOLENT FATHER OF ALL,

I, Adam Keith, of the county of Van Wert and the state of Ohio, being of lawful age and sound mind and memory, do make and publish this, my last Will and Testament.

Item 1st--I give and bequeath to my beloved wife in lieu of her dower all the household and kitchen furniture, beds and bedding, together with her legal thirds in all my real estate during her natural life and at her death all the before mentioned household and kitchen furniture, beds and bedding, to go to my son Henry for the use of the family.

Item 2nd--I give and bequeath to my daughter Polly Keith the sum of one dollar.

Item 3rd--I give and bequeath to my daughter Catharine Keith the sum of one dollar.

Item 4th--I give and bequeath to my son John Keith the sum of one dollar.

Item 5th--I give and bequeath to my son Adam Keith the sum of one dollar.

Item 6th--I give and bequeath to my son Henry Keith all the balance of my personal estate (except what I have already devised to my beloved wife) over and above what will pay all my just debts; and also the South half of the South East quarter of section twenty one in township one South of range three East: eighty acres more or less, subject however to dower of my said wife and Henry aforesaid to keep the family.

Item 7th--I give and bequeath to my son William Keith the North East quarter of the South East quarter of section twenty one, township one South of range three East: forty acres more or less, and also the undivided one half of the North West quarter of the South West quarter of section twenty two in the town and range aforesaid, all of said land in Van Wert County, Ohio. Said undivided tract of land in section 22 to contain 20 acres more or less and the said William Keith is to pay my daughter Susannah Eller the sum of thirty dollars in three annual payments of ten dollars each without interest.

Item 8th--I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah Eller the above mentioned thirty dollars which is to be paid by my son William.

Item 9th--I give and bequeath to my son Lewis Keith the balance or undivided one half of the North West quarter of the South West quarter, section 22, town one, range three East; twenty acres more or less in the county and state aforesaid.

Item 10th--I hereby authorize, empower and require my executor hereafter named to make to my said son Lewis Keith a deed of General Warranty for the South West on or after South West quarter of section 22, town one, range three East: forty acres more or less in Van Wert County, Ohio, which I have heretofore sold to him and received payment in full for the same.

Item 11th--I do hereby nominate and appoint William Keith executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise, adjust and discharge in such manner as he may deem proper the debts and claims due me. I also empower him if it shall become necessary in order to may my debts to sell by private sale on in such manner, upon such terms of credit or otherwise as he may think proper, all or any part of my real estate, and deeds, to purchaser, to execute, acknowledge and deliver in fee simple.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of April, 1852.
