Miss Zadie Palmer
Miss Zadie Palmer's death, which occurred Tuesday night at her home near the quarry in Ridge
township, will be mourned by a wide circle of friends. Her life, filled with charitable deeds,
was a charm to those about her, and was exemplary to others in that it illustrated the beauty
and grace of true friendship and christianity. Interment in Woodland.

Aaron Pancake
Aaron Pancake, one of our best known and most highly respected citizens, passed peacefully to the silent
shore Tuesday afternoon at his home in Harrison township. The deceased was born in Virginia, January 4,
1817 and was therefore 74 years, 8 months and 18 days old. When a young man he moved from Virginia to
Ohio, locating in Ross county, and afterwards, about 1850, came to Van Wert county where he has since
resided. In late years he has been in feeble health on account of the afflictions of old age, being
seldom able to come to town or leave his room. Seven children, five sons and two daughters, survive.
Funeral services took place yesterday and were attended by a very large concourse of sorrowing friends.

James Parker
James Parker, son of Rev. John Parker and Hannah Parker, was born in Perry county, Ohio, on the 23rd of April, 1832, and died of cardiac asthma in Van Wert county, Ohio, April 4, 1901, at the ago of 68 years, 11 months and 12 days. In 1858 he was married to Miss Soloma Beery, which union was blest with three sons and two daughters. His daughter, Clara, died in 1864 and three years later her mother also departed this life. He was married to Miss Clara Ford December 15, 1870, but in the next year God called her away. He was united in matrimony to his now sorrowing wife January 20, 1874. God blessed their union with two children, one son and one daughter. Ho was converted to God over forty years ago and joined the Baptist church, in which denomination his father was an itinerant preacher for over forty years at Waterloo, Ohio, and elsewhere. Since coming to this county he identified himself with the St. Peter's church of the Evangelical Association, in which he held various offices and was an honored member until his death. He was a liberal supporter and his heart was in the church. He leaves behind to mourn his departure his beloved wife, four sons, daughters and four brothers, besides many other relatives friends, while his father and mother, one daughter, four sisters, and one brother, who died as a soldier in tho Civil War, have gone before. The Lord assuage the sorrow of the bereaved and grant them all a happy reunion in heaven.

Peter G. Profit
Peter G. Profit, who formerly lived in this town but moved back to the fatherland a couple of years ago, died
on the 9th of April at Otterberg, Germany, after a brief illness. His age was about 76 years. The sad
news was conveyed by letter to Fritz Trupp.
